Hello, St. John’s

In light of the recent spike in COVID cases and the risk associated with gathering in person each Sunday, the Consistory has voted to suspend in-person worship through January 3 rd. Please understand that this was a very difficult decision that required a significant amount of time and prayer. Ultimately, it came down to protecting our congregation as best as possible in the near term so we can gather again as soon as possible in the New Year.

“We cannot control the fact that we will have to have COVID with us this Advent and Christmas. However, we do not need to allow it to be the unwelcome guest in our heads, thinking it will destroy Christmas. It may actually give us a gift: to strip away all that is not essential to the celebration of the Lord’s birth and see Christmas for what it has always been — God’s Love incarnate coming to set us free.” – Father Thomas Konopka

During this time that we are physically apart, we will continue to record our worship services and make them available online each week on our YouTube channel and our website www.stjohnorwigsburg.org.

On behalf of the Consistory, I want to thank you for your understanding and support in this decision. If you have any questions or concerns, please let either myself or the Church office know and we will be happy to address them.

Blessings and Good Health,

-Bill Holler, SJUCC Consistory President
